Opportunity to help in our communities abounds. Individually, we encourage you to make an impact where you work, in the schools, in groups and associations in which you’re active – the unique places where God has placed you. As a church, we have many opportunities to serve in specific local outreach efforts.
In Ravenna, we have served meals to those in need at the Center of Hope downtown and participated in Loaves & Fishes, a program run by a consortium of churches and community groups in the area that serves a Saturday meal at the Ravenna United Methodist Church. We also staff the Water at the ROC (public shower/laundry facility) in the Ravenna Oakwood building on weekdays. This facility is open to anyone in need and offers a place to shower, do a load of laundry, have a meal and friendly conversation.
A direct ministry of PCC, Gifts from God distributes toiletries and necessities throughout the year to the homeless and needy. Periodically, we also take “The Walk” through town in the late evening, which offers an opportunity to talk, give a small meal and any necessities to the homeless.
Growing Daisies is dedicated to taking care of a child in need or helping a family with children going through a tough time by providing a blessing. By gifting them with a Daisy box or bag filled with clothing, hygiene items, a book and Bible, they see God’s love in action. We pray for each child and hope that this gift can help them grow from just a seed into a beautiful flower.
Each year we hold a Sportsmen’s Dinner, a fun evening for anyone who loves the outdoors and we’re always part of the Ravenna Balloon-a-Fair festival in September. For dates and opportunities for most local outreach, see our events page.
